Location, Location, Location

Location, Location, Location is a mantra that every real estate agent sings and preaches to their buyers especially when looking at business property.  As it turns out, the same mantra can be said for events.  Have you ever thought about what goes into site selection for an event?  It is actually a lot harder than you might think.  There are so many variables to weigh when selecting the particular venue for an event.

Award and Growth

Putting on a Race

Have you ever considered putting on a race?  Or just wondered what went on behind the scenes to host the race that you just ran?  I know that personally I was really surprised the first time that I directed a race as to how much work was involved.  The end results can be great but it is also not without a lot of risk.  You see races popping up all over the place and while the big name races can do quite well, most of these small races barely break even.

Behind the Scenes

I just got back from the Fiesta Bowl for an awesome game between Oregon and Kansas State.  My son and I went out together and had a fantastic time.  We participated in as many of the activities as possible so as to take it all in.   As an event planner myself, I stood in awe thinking about all the planning and coordination that went into that event.  It's hard to fathom the amount of details that would have to be managed to make sure that everything goes smoothly.  Even with all of that planning though, I am certain that there were some hiccups somewhere.&n

End of the World

Since you're reading this, obviously the world didn't end but we are closer to the end of the year.  For many, it's a time of reflection and a time to think about the coming year.  Besides being an annual holiday and a time for family, gifts, worship, and rest, it's also a great time to look back on where you've been and where you want to go.  A new year always holds the promise of new things and a time to reinvent.

Kudos to Volunteers

When thinking about what I wanted to write this week, I thought about several topics that would be relevant but none hit me as much as thinking about the volunteers that I have seen throughout this year and past.  Until I got into this business and started working behind the scenes, I had really never given it much thought as to the time and effort that goes into a race production.

Keeping Your Race On Course

This fall has been one of the busiest race seasons that we've ever seen and many of you should be congratulated for participating.  Whether it was a local 5K, 10K, a marathon, or even a triathlon, you should be proud of your accomplishments.  For all of these events, your participation has helped support one of the many causes by providing them with much needed funds for their operations.  While the races themselves are important, they pale in comparison to the needs of the host charities.  It takes a lot of planning and work to put these events together and your par

Chosen Marathon October 27, 2012

I decided to run another race after my 26.2 three weeks prior to this one all for my dear friend on her first 13.1. My friend Maria has been running with me over the course of the year and even in my pregnant days, ha! We decided it was her time she was going to run a 13.1 race. Maria is a wonderful runner she needs to give herself lots of credit. The race that came up next for a 13.1 was the Chosen Marathon Race. It's for an excellent cause. I enjoy nothing more than serving in my community, volunteer work, donating, and giving my time.
