Start your Saturday morning in the great outdoors. Walk, run or stroll along the banks of the beautiful Blanco River. The tree-lined, waterfall-clad course runs right through Blanco State Park (click here to see what the trail looks like). For you serious runners, this is a chip-timed event, and there will be custom, hand-crafted medals by glass artist, Bette Vest, for the top three finishers in each age category. For "not-so-serious runners"--there will be prizes for Best Outfit and Best Group Theme. Your fee includes a participant medal, beer, mimosas and breakfast tacos after the race. Course begins on the square, goes through Blanco State Park and finishes back in downtown Blanco. When you finish, you can cool down by walking through the vendor market on the Courthouse square. Please Note: We've had a few calls from ladies "worrying" they may not have quite enough time to finish the run and make it to their first event. We checked our Rule Book--which specifically says "No worrying, fretting or hand-wringing allowed". Sooo, the run really is scenic. It is fun. It is a great way to clear you mind to start the weekend. You should have plenty of time to complete the run. Besides you can do part of it and head back in time for your first event.
