In 2009, the City of Schertz hosted the inaugural 5K event in honor of former Schertz City Councilmember Tony Wilenchik. Tony was diagnosed in 2006 with Stage-4 Leiomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. Tony’s determination to face the disease head-on helped the City create a fund-raising event to help research cures for cancer. Through 2020, more than $187,000.00 has been raised and donated to the UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center to aid in their research.

5K Timed Run $35.00 (Top 3 awarded by age group) Registered participants will receive an event t-shirt and race bib/timing chip if registered by February 14. Registration will remain open through March 5 (race t-shirts are not guaranteed after February 14).
Signs of Love - $20.00 Honor a loved one fighting or remember a loved one (available for purchase and personalization on race day)
